PLOUGHING MATCH.

TIMARU ASSOCIATION,

The fifteenth annual ploughing match conducted by the Tlmaru Ploughing Match Association was held on Boturday, on the property of Mr D. Grant, near Tlmaru. There, was a very large attendance, and the competitions were efficiently conducted. Tho entries were about the same* in number as for last year's match, but the ploughing was not quite up to the standard reached then. The challenge cup championship was won by J. Nimmo, of Fapakaio. In presenting the prizes the Mayor of Tlmaru (Mr (J. 3. Wallace) said that the annual .ploughing match in South Canterbury was a credit to the whole of New Zealand, and it was a very pleasing fact that South Canterbury led, the Dominion in this respect. (Applause.) that would make for the encouragement, of tfiose going on to the land should be supported.
