Harbour Board Lease. • ■ The' Lyttelton Harbour Board has accepted the tender of Messrs Kestar, Ltd., of Auckland, and Wanganui, for the lease of an area of land on the new reclamation ground at Naval Point, Lyltelton, for. a'term of twentyone . years. The .upset rental nxed by. the ! Board 'wis £2OO per acre per annum.

Maori's Rough Trip. The ferry Bteamer .Maori had. a rough passage in the - earlier part of the trip from ■Wellington 1 on Saturday night. The position of the fire was screened from observation by a breakwind wall.

Midnight Rose," starring Lya De Putti and Kenneth Harlan, and "Love's Blindness," featuring Pauline Starke and An: tonio Moreno, will be. repeated at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, together with a comedy and ga'selte. The supporting programme includes a comedy-serial and scenic. Fancy Dresß Dance. A, plain and facny dress dance was given in ,St.'Saviour's Schoolroom on Friday evening by Mesdames A. H. Fletcher and F. Hobbs; There was a largo attendance, and mußic was provided by Miss Phyllis Plimmer. Mrs ; Loney judged; the costumes, and prizes were-awarded as follows: —Best dressed lady, Miss May Cracroft Wilson (Lily Langtry); best dressed gentleman, Mr Alan Curnow (Turk); most original lady, Miss Patricia Ronalds . • Hockey Club Dance. Undoubtedly the most successful scries of dances in Lyttelton this season are those organised bv the Trinity Ladies* Hockey Club. These lad'ies are willing workers in the organisation of their dances, special attention being paid to decorations, lighting effects, and novelty dances. The dance held on Saturday night was a blue balloon dance, and was in every way enjoyable. There was again a very large attendance. Mis 6D. Jones s orchestra of five supplied the dance music, and a Bit-down supper was provided. Mr A. Bayne gave an exhibition of the Kick Haju dance, which is featured, in the musical comedy, "Rio Rita," and other dances.

A handicap match played at Diamond Harbour, on* Saturday afternoon, for Mr F. E. Sutton's trophy was won by W. Paton. Playing in the first round of the senior championship at Charter's Bay yesterday, lan Davidson defeated C.-E. Ayers, 4 and 3. In the. first round of the junior championship, R. Miller defeated C. D. McKenzie, -4 and' 3.
