LAUNCH MISSING.
A TRAGEDY FEARED. (FRESS association TBLEQBAU.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 8. Two men and their launch are missing from the port of New Plymouth. A strong wind is blowing and a high sea is running, and fears are entertained for the men's safety. The men are Alfred Allen, aged 30, owner of the launch, and P. J. Bartholomew, labourer, aged 50. Both are married men. They left the. harbour at 9.30 on Friday morning on a fishing expedition, intending to return in the evening. This morning the harbourmaster (Captain Waller) and three men put to sea in the Harbour Board launch and searched the vicinity of Saddleback Island. Visibility was very poor as heavy rain was falling continuously. They returned this evening.
