Magna Charta Day, June 15th, is expected to be celebrated this year by a larger number of people in the Eng-lish-speaking world than ever previously. New Zealand is actively linked up with the movement, being a nation member of the International Magna Charta Day Association, and having the Prime Minister, Mr Coates, as one of the honorary presidents of the Association. The two main objects of the Association are to develop Englishspeaking fellowship through the annual observance of the day. The day is not a legal holiday, but the practice has been in Great Britain to recognise it by the issuance of a Royal Proclamation while proclamations on behalf of the observance are issued also in the Lm" States. The Prime Minister has intimated that the New Zealand observance of the day will take the form of an appropriate reference on June 15th. Among Sir Jesse Boot's uniticent gifts to Nottingham is a great ra "3 of playing fields covering nearly * acres.
