J.P. ARRESTED.
(press association telkgrau.) HAMILTON, May 22. The Press was asked to suppress the name of an elderly Pahiatua man, who appeared before .Mr Platts, S.M., today charged with attempting to leave his wife unsupported .and intending to leave New Zealand. The arrest was made under warrant from Pahiatua. Counsel for accused said he was a Justice of vhe Peace and a man of considerable wealth. Ho was separated from his wife and paid) her £4 10s a week and an unmarried daughter £2. He had remitted the sums regularly. Counsel said he thought the facts would convince the Bench that the suspicions were groundless. The Magistrate granted a remand to Pahiatua.
