TEMUKA.
PERSONAL. The Misses Attfield (Clyde) are the guests of Mrs Radford, Railway terrace. Mr Desmond Peoples, of the Oamaru staff of the Bank of New South Wales, is on a holiday visit to Teinuka. After spending a holiday at Waitaki, Mrs H. Toomey and family have returned to Geraldine. The death occurred early on Monday morning, at his residence, "Scotsburn," Raukapuka, Geraldine, of Mr 0. Scott Thomson, in his 72nd year. The deceased had a small farm at Kakahu, but on the death of his wife he came to live in Geraldine. He was a member of the Geraldine Road Board, a life member of the Geraldine Racing Club, and a vestryman of St. Mary's Church. GERALDINE. Mr r. Piper, headmaster of the Geraldine District High School, who was the highest applicant for the position of headmaster of the Timaru Main School, and was recommended by the Education Board for the position, has withdrawn his candidature and consequently will not be leaving Geraldine. , Miss R. Martin and Miss B. Bennett arrived in Geraldine by car on Monday after spending a holiday in Blenheim. The weather during the last few days has been exceptionally fine for this time of the year. Owing to the absence of much snow 011 the hills, the frosts have not been heavy. Threshing mills are still busy in tho district, but the bulk of the work has been finished. CLANDEBOYE. The Clandeboye Tennis Club has completed a singles tournament (handicap 21 points up), for a trophy given by Mr J. Boococlv, vice-president of the Club. The winner was Miss Flett. There was a large attendance of bachelors and spinsters at a meeting held 011 Monday evening to arrange for the annual ball. Mr Bruce Pemberton presided. Mr Alex. Heer and Miss Flett were appointed joint secretaries and a strong general committee was set up.
