A "largely-attended meeting of Rural Education Endowment leaseholders at Gore to-day discussed the unsatisfactory'nature of the present tenures. Speakers held that, short leases are against the best interests of the farming community, owing to the difficulty in raising finance and on account of raised rentals due to improvements. It was agreed to issue a circular petition, which will be placed before Parliament, asking for a 66 years' lease, with the rieJit of perpetual renewal and the right of purchase of the ifyeehold. - • " ' It w.'is decided also to send a deputation .to Wellington to interview the Prima-Minister. the Minister for L«ids the ;Minister for Eduction, and the Leader of the Opposition, j
