LATIMER SQUARE.

Tft THE EDITOR OF TffP PRESS. Sir;—lt is acknowledged throughout the Dominion-that in no city are Art and Nature better combined than in Christchurch. The Avon has been made truly delightful, the Botanic Gardens are excellent, our architecture is unsurpassed, our- statues .are good, and our Bridge of Remembrance is .1 gem. But we are deplorably poor in flower plots within the business area. The suggestion to turn the (at present) uninteresting Latimer square into a garden of flowers is therefore well worth consideration. And if the Art Gallery were placed in the middle of the north half it would give the whole scheme its final touch of beauty. A walk or .drive along Worcester street through the avenue of flowers would bo 0 pleasure to citizens and visitors alike.—Yours, etc., LATIMER SQUARE. April 14th, 1928.
