THE "ROCKET CAR."
IMMENSE SPEED CLAIMED. < (UNITED JPBBSS ASSOCIATION—BY BLBCTBIO TBiaOB/UPH—COSTEIOHT.) i . ■ (Beceived April 15th, 5.5 p.m.) BEBLIN, April 14. The director x)f the Opal Company asserts that in yesterday's triai the "Rocket Oar" obtained a spfied of 430 miles per hour for a few seconds. " The "Socket" car resembles a racer, except in the inclusion of a steel chamber at the rear, containing twelve pipea whence rockets are discharged. Pairs of pipes are connected with fuses and are lihkGd to a switchboard controlled by the driver. The rockets are dis : charged by an electric spark, causing a sheet of flame to burst out, the car leaping forward with terrific speed, enveloped in a smoke cloud. The drawback is that each rocket costs a small fortune.—Australian Press Association.
