It now transpires that Miss Mercedes Gleitz could hardly have landed, oven if successful in swimming the Strait of Gibraltar, as she forgot to store her clothes in the accompanying tug. The Military Governor of Tarifa invited her in the name of the townsfolk to reattempt the swim, declaring that she was much braver than the bull fighter. Miss Gleitz is the guest of the Governor, and announces that she will make one more attempt. [Miss Mercedes Gleitz, • the wellknown Channel swimmer, has made three unsuccessful attempts to swim the Strait of Gibraltar. On her first attempt in December she gave up after seven and a half hours in rough water; on her second after 12 hours, and on the third, which she made on Monday, after 7hr 45min.]
