ROWING.
CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Rowing Association was held last night, Mr F. D. Kcsteven presiding. With reference to the Olympic Games team a letter from the N.Z.A.R.A. stated that the Olympic Council had placed a boxer, three swimmers, and two athletes ahead of the rowing team, which meant that .£I3OO or £ISOO hod to be collected before starting on the £SOOO required for the rowers. Tho total .expense for the crew of eight would bo £2400, leaving £2OO for expenses of appeal plus £I3OO. The Olympic Games. Council had collected to date £llOO. The letter noted that several subscriptions had been received to be used in the event of the rowing crew being sent away, and advised that these subscriptions be hold in case the crew did not go away, thus enabling them to bo paid back. The following donations to the fund for sending the crew away were reported:— R E McDougall, £3 3s; Kaiapoi Working Men's Club, £1 Is; Kaiapoi Regatta Committee, £2 2s.
