SOUTHERN TYROL.
ALL DEAD BEAR ITALIAN NAMES. FASCIST PREFECTS' DECREE. (BI CASLI rMBS ASSOCIATION—COPTMORT.) (AUBTKAUAX AND V.Z. CABLS ASSOCIATION^ (Received March 12th, 10.55 p.m.) LONDON, March 12. The special correspondent of the "Daily Express" in Tyrol says it is a strange fact that everyone who has died in Southern Tyrol sinco October, 1927, bears an Italian name. This is due to a Fascist miracle, the prefects decreeing that all dead must be buried under Italian names in certain parishes. Thoy even decree that the graves of bygone generations must bear, Italian names. It is easy to see the humour of such au order, but it is a different matter for children burying their father, or their mother, under strange, outlandish names. Tradesmen, doctors, and lawyers have been compelled to erase their German Christian names and replace them with Italian ones.
