U.S. COAL INDUSTRY.
REIGN OF TERROR REPORTED. (bi cable—press association—copyright.) (australian and n.z. cabls association.) (Received March 12th, 7.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 11. The sub-committee .of the Senate and the Interstate Commerce Committee, which recently toured the regions where coal strikes have been in progress for over a year, have publisned their report, which declares the conditions in Central Pennsylvania amount to "a reign of terror." The report is severely critical of housing conditions, and tells of shootings into schoolhouses, immorality and brutality by strike breakers, and of police maintained by the operators.
