MILD OUTBREAK.
INFANTILE PARALYSIS. Infantile paralysis has made its appearance to a slight extent in Christchurch. Five cases were reported to the health authorities last week, and a sixth was notified yesterday, but so far only two cases have been definitely diagnosed as positive. Four of these are in the City area and two are from North Canterbury (one of these two being a positive case). The general opinion among niedi'x) men is that there is no occasion for alarm. An epidemic is regarded as unlikely, although it is admitted that six cases in a week is unusual. Happily it is too late in the season for the outbreak to assume any serious propor tions.
One private school was closed down, but that is always done when one case occurs among the mipils. The school has been reopened.
