SIR JOHN DUNCAN.

The King to-day received Major-Gen-eral John Duncan, until lately commander of the Shanghai Defence Force, and conferred a knighthood upon him. [Major-General Sir Francis John Duncan joined the Royal Scots in 1889, and served during the South African War in command of the mounted infantry. He had a brilliant career during the Great War and from 1913 to 1924 was Military Attache" at Bucharest.]
