WELSH SMELTING WORKS.
♦ MEN DO EXTRA WORK. LONDON, March 2. A new spirit in industry is strikingly manifest in South Wales, where last year the coal companic a trading loss of £2,500,000. The men have responded to the Ebbwvale chairman's appeal for extra work in connexion with the general activity preparatory to restarting several smelting works which have been closed down for years. The union leaders declared that • the men were ready to pull their weight and give the company all the iron it wanted if it restarted the furnaces.
