WAIRARAPA CONTEST. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.I iIASTERTOX, March 4. At the Wairarapa Sub-Centra athletic championships on Saturday, which were held under ideal conditions, J. Standen won the halfmile championship in lmin 6 3-ssec, the mile championship in 2min 28 4-ssec, and the three miles championship in 7min 04 l-ssec, T. Oakley being second in each event. Oakley, however, substantiated his claim as the best unpaced grass track rider in winning the two miles invitation pursuit race from Standen by a margin of 100 yards. Oakley's time was 4min 35 2-ssec, and Standen's 4min 41 l-ssec. Gane and Scarf?, both of Wellington, were the other competitors in the pursuit event.
NELSON SPORTS. .(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAH.) NELSON, March 3. At the Amateur Athletic Cycling Club's sports to-day Gray (Australia) won the three miles and one mile handicaps. His times were 7min 38 and 2min 17 3-osec.
