Chicago, March —Mr McAndrew. the schoolmaster whose dispute with the Board of Education led to Mayor Thompson's "America first' campaign, has filed a suit for 250.000 dollars against Mr Thompson, charging .liim with defamation of character. Mr McAndrew states that if he wins lie will give the money to charity. Airmen Safe. Ottawa, March 2.—A Winnipeg message states that Flying Officer Lewis and Flight Sergeant Terry, of the Federal Government northern air patrol, who have been lost in the wilds of the Arctic Circle sinco February 17th. arc reported to be safe at Port Barwell, Hudson Straits. Minister's Sudden Death. Ottawa, March 2.—A message from Victoria states that Mr William Sloan, Minister for Mines in British Columbia, died of a stroke, aged 61. Indian Home Rule. Delhi, March 2\—A conference of all the Indian political parties at Delhi agreed that the swaraj, or home rule constitution to be framed, should provide for full responsible government for India, and include the native states. Trans-Pacific Flight. Tokio, March 2. —Notwithstanding the recent fatalities, the trans-Pacific flight sponsors express their determination to continue their preparations as scheduled. Censure Motion. Canberra, March 3. —After two weeks a dreary debate was finally ended by the application of the gag to Mr Charlton's censure motion, which was defeated by 40 votes to 19, on a purely party division.
