Though there are 69 eases of scarlet fever in the Infectious Diseases Hospital. at Bottle Lake the Health authorities say that the outbreak is an ordinary seasonal one, and there is nothing to bo alarmed about. The cases are described as ' 'mild seasonal cases."' It is noteworthy that tlie outbreak started last year later in the year than is usual, with the result that it has continued rurtTier into the summer months this year. At the Infectious Diseases Hospital yesterday there were SO patients, of which total 69 are suffering from scarlet fever and 27 are children. The nursing staff has been - increased in order to cope with tlie situation. At this time last year there were only 30 patients in the hospital. In a large number of cases, stated Colonel F W. W. Dawson. Assistant Health Officer, yesterday, _ th 6 attack of scarlet fever' was so slight that it u'as not recognised as such by patients. This assisted in the spread of the malady. Ho strongly urged parents to call in medical aid where such symptoms as sore throats accompanied by sickness were manifest.
