IMPROVING THE STREETS. Authority was requested for the putting in hand of the following works, provision for which has been made in the current year's estimates by the Water Supply and Works Committee, at last night's City Council meeting:— Church lane, St. Albans, tar-sealing, £ls; Montreal street (jOranmer square to Bealey avenue), patching and tarsealing,, £196; Salisbury street (Durham street to Manchester street) tarsealing, £180; Carlton Mill road (Park terrace to Rhodes street), patching and tar-sealing, £180; Springfield road (Bealey avenue to St. Albans lane), tar-sealing, £325; Buckley's road (Linwood avenue to Page's road), patching and sealing, £250; Linwood avenue (Worcester street to Buckley's road); tar-sealing, £265; Stapleton's road, forming and metalling, £1080;" Heaton street (Papanui road to City boundary), tar-sealing, £2OO. The report was adopted.
