UNEMPLOYMENT.
CITIZENS' COMMITTEE DISBANDED. The Citizens' Unemployment Committee met yesterday, Mr E. H. Andrews presiding.
Mr W. E. Leadley said that it was useless for the comiyittee to function further this year. He moved: "That the committee disband, and that the Finance Committee be instructed to wind up the affairs .of the committee-" Mr A. F. Drayton seconded the motion, which was agreed to. It was also decided to ask the Christchurch members of Parliament and the City Council to urge the Government to call a-'Dominion conference to consider the unemployment problem in New Zealand. Mr Drayton, chairman of the Finance Committee, reported that the Government subsidy had been received. The balanoe to credit was £l2B, which, he said, would come in handy, if required, next year.
