At the resumed hearing of the mail robbery charges against Joseph Foster, a guard named Bowlev gave evidence that Foster sat near the mail van. Bowley fetched him a soda and water, and accepted two whiskies. He was absent for several minutes and left the sliding door locked. It could have been opened with a strong knife. The mail bag might have been hidden under the seat. Bowley left the train at Reading, and Foster continued his journey. Accused was remanded.
