NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. ANNUAL REPORT. The thirty-second annual report of (be New Zealand Cricket Council states that the financial statement shows a credit balance of £lll6 6s 10d, which must bo considered very satisfactory. The tour of tho Melbourne Cricket Club through the Dominion last season contributed very largely to the position o£ tho council's balance-sheet. Fortunately, both Test matches were played in excellent veaticr, and high scoring matches extended to the full four days in Ohristchurch and three in Wellington, the latter match having to he curtailed to enable tho departuro of the New Zealand team to take place the following day. The success of the Melbourne Cricket Club tour further emphasises the fact that- these tours form the principal sflurce of revenue for the council. Australians for New Zealand. The Board of Control has accepted an invitation to send an Australian team to New Zealand during the coming season, and it is very likely that the prospective Australian Test team for the following year against tho Englishmen will be sent to New Zealand. As many of the older players in _ Australia were now retiring from the game, it may bo anticipated that a number of the most brilliant youngsters on the other side. will be included. Arrangement of Tours. For some time past it has been considered by tho Management Committee that the basis of our relationship with the Australian Board of Control left much to be desired when it camo to the question of the of tours of teams between the two countries. Following negotiations for a closer relationship, the Board of Control has agreed to a definite understanding whereby in futnro the governing authorities in each country will be responsible for the exchange of tours and the arrangement of matches in either country. ■ Alteration to Constitution. "The Management Committee IS calling a conference of delegates from all parts of Now Zealand to discuss the question of an alteration in tho constitution- of tho council," states the annual report of tho New Zealand Cricket Council. "It is proposed, if t.lio financial arrangements can bo overcome, that each Association will send a direct representative to every annual meeting. This is tho method adopted by the New Zealand Rugby Union, with satisfactory results. Opportunity will also be taken of discussing a large number of other matters connected with the management of the game, many of them being very important. It i* expected that by direct consultation in this way a better understanding will be arrived at between the council and all Associations. Whatever the outcome of the conference, it is certain that it will bring about an oxchange of viows between cricket legislators from all parts of the Dominion, which must prove beneficial to the gamo.
