THE PILGRIMS.

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The Canterbury Pilgrims' Association met yesterday afternoon, Mr J. A. Flesher presiding. The chairman said that they had received a unique communication in tho formj>f an invitation to the golden wedding celebrations of Mr and Mrs William Smart, on July 18th, at Havelock North. Mr Smart was an early settler in Canterbury. Since then they had received a letter from Mr Smart, stating that the celebrations had passed off successfully, and offering to send a photographic, group of the celebrations for the Association's archives. It was decided to hold the next quarterly gathering on Saturday,. September 24th, when it is hoped that Dr. Acland would contribute some reminiscences of the early days, and that a further instalment of Mr Thomson's diary would be read. Mr H. L. Bowker suggested that it would add to the attractiveness of the gathering if some of the old-time songs and ballads were sung.
