KAWARAU GOLD.

FLOOD WATERS IN RIVER. [THE PRESS Special Service.] DUNEDIN, July 19. The Kawarau river this morning has reached the highest level since the gates were closed, and is only six inches below the level of the day previous to the closing. All last week it was too high for successful work, but a hard frost towards the week-end was sending it to a favourable level. There was a sudden change on Saturday, followed by two days' thaw and rain in some quarters. ThU morning there was another hard frost, but even under these conditions the river will be some days falling. The flood water is evidently coming from the feeders.
