SOME time ago the New Zen'and Meat Producers' Board, after oujaiderable investigations decided that the Large White Pig was the best to uso for breeding with the existing pigs m this Dominion to produce the ideal bacon pig suitable for our export trade with the United Kingdom, and in order to encourage the importation and breeding of this pig offered special prizes for the Large Whites at the last Royal Show in Auckland. This year, at the Royal Show to be held in Christchurch, in addition to offering prizes for purebred Large Whiteß, the Board intends to go a step further by offering prizes for porkers and bacon -pigs (irrespective of, breed) moat suitable for export trade, which, after being judged at the Show, are to be killed and shipped Horn© for judging on Smithfield market.
