R.S.A.»S NEW CLUB. There was a moderate attendance at a meeting of returned soldiers, Dr. G. W. Curtis, president of the local committee, taking the chair. The first business was to consider the status quo of the committee for the ensuing year; whether to secede from the Temuka R.S.A. and form a local E.S.A., or to form a committee locally for the business of Anzac Day observance, annual reunion, and looking after the interests of returned men, or finally to disband. It was decided to form a local club, to be called "The Returned Soldiers' Club." Mr J. C. McLeod was elected president -Mr J. Grierson secretary, pendine the office being taken over later bv Mr W. MeClure. The following committee was then elected:—Messrs F. w Morgan, Z. Sherratt, W. MeClure, E' Winmill, G. Davie, J. B. Stewart, and Dr. & W. Curtis, and officers ex officio; treasurer, Mr J. B. Stewart. Unemployment. A large deputation waited on the Mavor (Mr J. Kennedy), asking that, ■t Possible, work for about 35 men unemSd should be found by the Borough Council or the Beautifying S °The 7 Mayor gave the deputation a most sympathetic hearing. He advised the men to register particulars of their cases with the Town Clerk. Mr Kennedy also expressed the opinion that it was more a district than a borough matter, and promised to convene a meeting of all local bodies to see what ■autnld be done. '
