JUSTICES' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Council of the Canterbury Justices' Association was held last night in the Chamber of Commerce. Present: Mr A. Williams (president) and Messrs H. Herbert Smith, F. H. Christian, A. H. Hobbs, F. B. Creswell, J. W. Baty, Gr. E. Franklin, and J. Russell Brunt. Apologies were. accepted from Messrs W. H. Seed, C. H. Gilby, H. Holland, M.P., asd F. *H. Hubert. Correspondence was read from Mr H. Holland, M.P., and Mr I. Salek, Dominion Registrar, Justices' Association, Wellington, to the effect that they each had had interviews with the Minister for Justice, and had placed before him the various remits passed at the recent Justices' Conference held at Dunedin, with fairly satisfactory results.— Received. The following applications for enrolment as members were received and granted:— Messrs James Ashton (Hanmer), Wallace C. Battson (Methven), William B. Bray (Earrv'e Bay), John Stewart Chapman (Southbridge), Miss Agnes E. Colthart (Darneld) MessTS Robert Garters (Spreydon).
