PROFESSORS AND STUDENTS.

TO THE EDITOR 0? THE PRESS. Sir,—ln to-day's issue, cinder the headings, "The Breath of Scandal," "Students on a Train," "Professors Hold Enquiry," you publish what puriwrts to be an account of an enquiry by a committee of the Professorial Board into the conduct of certain Canterbury College students. Will you allow me to state— (I) That the. account given is quite unauthorised and was not supplied by the committee of enquiry or bv anv member thereof; (2) that it gives'an incomplete, and partial account of the evidence; (3) that the enquiry is still proceeding. Further comment must be deferred till the enquiry is completed.—Yours, etc.. OHAS. OHILTON, Rector. Canterbury College, July 19th. [The report was obviously "unauthorised," but it was accurate so far as it went, except for the statement that the Professors' Committee had completed the enquiry. —Ed., The Press.]
