BOWLING.
OPAWA CLUB. ' There wan a good muster o£ members at the annual meeting of the Opawa Bowling -Club,' Mr W. Arcbbold, the president, being in the chair. The results o£ last year's operations were considered quite satisfactory, and although no inter-club competitions were secured, very many close and enjoyable games were played. The financial statement showed a-small debit balance of £74, the assets giving a surplus of £909 over the liabilities. Officers elected for the ensuing year were, as follows: —President, Mr 0. E. Gwatkin; vice-president, Mr 11.l 1 . Penborfhy; junior vicepresident, Mr S. Maddren; secretary, Mr H. Wilkinson; treasurer, Mr E. Eldridge; General Committee, Messrs H. _ Hunter, E, Rawnsley, E. Johnson, W. Haigh, and J. Hillary; delegate to Centre, Mr W. Archbold; Match Committee, Messrs J. Hillary, W. Haigh, and W. Rollinson; Greens Committee, Messrs E. Rawnsley, J. Evans, and L. Munro; hon. auditor, Mr-H. A. Bruce. The president presented the trophies won during Jaßt season as follows: —Champion singles and Gavin Watson Silver Cup, A. Worsley; champion pairs, E. G. Rawnsley and E. Johnson; handicap singles and Tress Silver Cup, F. Steans; handicap pairs, A. Watkins, and A. Hunnibel; champion rinks, P. Steans, W. Haigh,. Vinsen, and L. Munro; junior rinks, R. Wilson, H. Hunter, Eastwood, and Hoddinott; progressive rinks. P. Peuberthy, Sutton, Eldridge, and Gemmell; Labour Day doubles, H. Hunter and H. Hoddinott. The hon. treasurer, Mr J. Hillary, on retiring from the position which he had held for some twenty years, was accorded a very special vote of thanks for the splendid onti generous work he had put in as treasurer of the club. Special reference was made to the good work of the retiring president, Mr W. Archbold, and a vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of two late members of the club, Messrs Irccas and Ditford, who died recently.
