British imports of New Zealand produce s disclosed in the British Board of Trade ,turns for 1926 are interesting. In respect wool, New Zealand holds second plaoe ith a contribution of 184,238,0001b, Australia sing first with 304,554,0001b, this being 37J er cent, of the total imports of wool into ritain, New Zealand's proportion being 221 er cent. In the supply of mutton and lamb ew Zealand bolds first place with 2,630,992 rt Argentina coming next with 1,269,543 vt' and Australia third with 752,320 cwt. ew Zealand's proportion cf the total was per cent, and Argentina 24 per cent. ut mutt-on and lamb play a relatively small irt in the meat supply of Britain, for the aports of beef are more than double those mutton and lamb Last year the imports beef were 13,306,575 cwt, as compared ith 12,419-614cwt in 1925. The figures for 1926 elude 41,534 cwt of fresh beef, and 9,678,343 <rt of chilled beef, the balance being frozen ef. South America dominates the beef pplies with 79 per cent, of the total, while ew Zealand's proportion last year was only per cent. Wien beef is in ample supply it is just now, and chilled beef in parjular, it exercises an adverse effect on mutn and lamb. The total imports of butter to the United Kingdom last year were 819,6'25 cwt, against £5,853,245 cwt in 25, there was thus a small shrinkage. Toijds last year's imports New Zealand confuted 1,153,896 cwt, equal to about 2l£ r cent., while Denmark's proportion was J06 496 cwt or over 33 per cent, of the total. istralia contributed 752,0S8 cwt, so that istralia and New Zealand did not supply much as Denmark. In the supply of eese, New Zealand leads with a contrition' of 1,497,471 cwt, out of a total of )13 303 cwt. Canada supplied 1,055,092 cwt. respect to tallow, New Zealand held first ace. supplying 17,546 tons, out of a total 46 776 tons. Argentina coming second with 181 tons. The woolled sheepskins importinto Britain last year amounted to 8£6 cwt, but of this New Zealand suped only 41.0S8 cwt, Australia furnished 43" cwt, and British South Africa 154,626 "t In respect to pelts, however, New Zeaid is easily first with a total of 1,075,820 ■ of a total of 2,518,767 Australia does ; export pelts, at least none were sent Britain last year, from which it would pear that Australia is able to use up all 1 pelts produced in the country, or else ssesse? other markets.
