CONCRETE ROADS.
♦ • "ALL RIGHT IF WE CAN AFFORD ITS' MR F. W. FURKERT'S OPINION. [THE PRESS Special Sorvice.] WELLINGTON, April 5. "\ro thev putting down concrete roads?" Jlr F. W. Furkert, who returned to-day from a tou r of America and Europe, was asked by an interviewer. ' , "Yes " said Air Furkert, "concrete roads are being laid down in many places. I noted, at Montreal particufarly, the large amount of road surfacing being &ne. There is 'io d °ubt that where there is heavy traffic you must have the concrete road, as it makes the best foundation. The international road conference held at Milan recently affirmed that concrete was without any question the best substance for a foundation, but that it must have a carpeting of something else to make a lasting and effective road.- Concrete is all right if we can afford it. It resolves itself finally into a question of money."
