There had been a very limited response to old •players to-join up, and it was hoped that more would gather in if the Assoj ciation was to- carry on without assistj ance. Henderson, who lias been in charge of the EakaiaMethven circuit for the past two years, •and is now removing to Cromwell, Mr H. Ayers, of Methven, Spoke of the good work done there by Mr Henderson, and on behalf of the t Mcth\ en people wished him prosperity and happiness in his new work. On behalf of the Eakaia congregation, Mr Hopwood spoke of the zeal and energy of Mr Henderson and of his popularity in the district. The Kevs. A. S. Morrison and»J.' C. Hawksworth regretted Mr Henderson's departure, and wished him success at Cromwell. On .behalf of the Eakaia and Methven members, Miss. Gladys Hunt presented Mr . Henderson with a cheque. Mr Henderson suitably returned thanks. Afterwards, supper was served, and the remainder of the evening was spent in parlour games and music. At Eokeby on Sunday afternoon, Mr Hendeison was met by his Rokeby congregation and presented with a set of military hair brushes, Mr Hampton making the presentation. Mr Henderson, in reply, regretted leaving a district where he had made so many friends.The monthly meeting of* the South Eakaia School Committee was held in the .sehool on Monday evening. There were present: Rev. A. S. Morrisoifl (chairman), Eev. J._ C. Hawksworth, Messrs W. J. Lee, E. Breach, A. Oliver, and C. Evison. The head teachers' report showed a rojl number of 147, with an average attendance of 130 for the first quarter. A good many children had been absent owing to gastric influenza. It was decided to tar seal the clay floors of the shelter shed. It was agreed that the extra holiday granted by the Governor-General be added to the Easter holidays. It was decided to ask the Board's architect to interview the committee in' connexion with the proposed alterations to the senior class-room. With a view to keeping down the growth of broom, it was decided to plant pine trees on the part of the playground affected. The Eakaia Football Committee was granted permission to cut down trees for electric light poles. The regular meeting of the Edith Cavell (Eebekah) Lodge was held on Monday evening, Sister A. Shannon, KG., presiding. Three new members w ere "proposed for initiation, and it Tvas decided to ask the officers of the Daphne Lodge to conduct the initiation ceremony. Sister A. Shannon, Jf.G., expressed the regret of members at losing the services of Sister Morev, V.G., who is shortly to be married, bister Newman, P.N.G., on behalf or the Edith Cavell Lodge, presented Sister Morey with a bedroom clock, a honey jar, and some Doulton ware, and wished her happiness in her future life. Bro. Newman also spoke, and those present sang "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow." Sister Morey returned thanks.

v ANAMA. The monthly meeting of the Anama Road Board was held in the Board's office on when there were present: Messrs D. Duff (chairman), D. J. Morrow, G. W. Ross, R. Nosworthv, and J. W. Richardson. The overseer reported that the road from Mclver to the Anama railway station bad been completed, and the roadman was now shingling the CavendishBrothers road. The work would be completed very soon. The contract for the shingling of Coskeries road for 75 chains was nearly completed, and the Anama-Valetta road formation was in the course of completion. Out of three applicants, B. Toner was appointed permanent roadman, and it was left in the hands of the overseer to appoint a permanent man for the shingle pit. The following transfer of land was granted .—Mr E. W. Roberts to Mr D. G. Wright. LITTLE RAKAIA. At a social function in the Little Rakaia School on Friday, a farewell wa s tendered to Miss Jones, the teacher, : who is leaving the district. The chairman (Mr F. H. qualities as a resident, and on behalf of the people, presented her with a hair brush and mirror and a travelling rug! Mr W. C. Eggleton also referred to the good work done by Miss Jones, who made a suitable reply. The chapman extended a hearty welcome to Mr R Carleton, the new teacher. First prizes for a euchre tournament were won bv Mrs A. Carroll and Mr A. Hutcheson, and the seconds by Mrs A. J. Beamsley and Mr Eggleton. Supper was served, and a dance followed, Mesdames Scott and McEvedy supplying the music. Miss K. Gillespie contributed a song, and Miss Mason a recitation. "Auld Lang Syne" concluded an enjoyable evening. COLDSTREAM. A meeting of the Library Committee wa3 held last week, there being present : Mr D. A. Little (chairman), Miss Thomson, Mi's Bargh, Messrs A. Bond, R. Bonnington, and. G. McKenzie. The secretary reported having received a Government subsidy of £l2, and, as the winter months were/approaching, it was. unanimously decided to use the money at once for the purchase of new books. ■
