TENNIS TOURNAMENT. An all-day tennis tournament, organised by Mrs J. C. Lord, was played yesterday at the Kedcliffs tennis courts between members of the Avonside B team, and a party of. Kedcliffs ladies. The weather *as beautifully B unny, and the visitors from town greatly enjoyed their visit to the suburban club who treated them with most cordial hospitality. After many good games had been played the Avonside playerß proved the winners of the match. Eedcliffs was represented by Mrs Hickinbottom, Mrs Papps, Mrs McKay, Miss Hamilton, Miss Eileen Pender Miss Jones, and Miss Ford, while the' visitors were Mrs Lord, Miss Angas Miss Edmondstot), Miss D. Sharpe, Miss Dinnicombe, Miss Morland, and Mrs Fuller. SELWYN KINDERGARTEN. The Selwya Kindergarten held its annual festival aod opeu morning last week. Despite the cold and threatening rain, there was a good attendance of mothers present. The children's gifts of produce and vegetables were sold during tho morning, resulting in the sum of £1 17s. The Mothers' Committee provided tea for those present. Miss Hutt addressed the mothers, and all were given an opportunity of watching the children's programme of work and play. FANCY DRESS BALL AT SCARGILL Tho members of the Motunau-Sear-gill branch of tho Plunket Society held their annua.) carnival dance in the Alexandra Hall, Scargill, on Friday ovetiiug. There was a very large attendance from all the surrounding districts, the result of a favourable eveuing, and the function was most successful in every way. Music tor tho dancing was supplied by Surridge's Ha warden Orchestra, with extras by local players, and the duti'es„of M.(J. were well carried out by Mr E. Vincent.
