LEESTON ITEMS.
A large gathering, representative of all sections of the .community, a&» sembled at the Leeston Town - Hall on Monday night to bid farewell to the Rev. A. 0. Harris, Mrs Harris, and family, who, after residing in Leeston fo r five years, are removing to Hamilton East, Waikato. Many fine tributes were paid to the sterling qualities of the guests. Mr A. Tong, senior circuit steward of the Methodist Church, who presided, handed to Mr and Mrs Harris a well-filled purse and-a travelling rug, referring at the same tine to the high regard in which they ;were held, not only by..the members, of their own church, but by all. with- whom they had come into touch.. The longer, they remained in the district the better the people liked them. He cpnveyed to the departing minister . and" his wife ana family sincere good wishes for their future success and happiness. Mr R, u. Bishop, junior steward, the good wishes of. the Churchpeople and presented the. .Misses Florence and Connie Harris each with an attache case, . Master' Newell Harris with a pocket-knife, and Baby Harris with a silver fprk and spoon in a case. Mr C. M. Sheat spoke for the Durisandel people, Messrs T. W. Brooks and A.
