AVON ROWING CLUB. The Avon Rowing Club's season was brought to a close on Saturday, when a successful afternoon's sport was held, trie members entertaining the lady supporters and friends to afternoon tea. During last week the Canterbury Rowing Club rowed off pair oar races for the Thomas Cup, four crews competing. The results were a3 F[r°X S at7 G. H. Arnold and R. |. Coster beat H. L, Stephenson and E. F. Hill by four lengths'. Arnold led all the way and the race was rather one-sided. Second heat. A. K. Johnston and C. L. Bacon, beat F. W M. Cowlishaw and B. Johnston. the race was a good one for half a mile, but superior combination and fitness gave A, Jv. Johnston the verdict by three lengths. Final: G H. Arnold and R. E. Coster beat A. it. Johnston and' C. L. Bacon. In this race Arnold woa bv two lengths, but Bacon protested on a' technical point and the race was ordered to be rowed again. In the re-row, Arnold again proved his superiority by winning by six lengths. . The results of the club's single acuLing races for the W. S. Godfrey Cup were as follows:-Firat round: G- H.
