STRAND THEATRE.
"If I •marry Mm lie has promised to call the circus after me," is the explanation of Spangles (Marian; Nixon), of the marriage that has been arranged between the circus-manag-er and her own petite self. It seems, to the girl, sufficient reason {or wedlock until the debonair Diok (Pat O'.Malley), fugitive from justice, and champion of wronged womanhood, makes his startling entry. tie has a hard time at fisticuffs and intrigue before the girl is his. "Spangles, a picture of circus life, is an exciting and interesting Universal production. Norma ShTO Adolph Menjou, and Vera Reynolds all perhaps doing" better work now, but themselves nevertheless, are appearing in "Brokon Barriers.' In addition James Kirkwood, George Fawcett, Mae Busch, and Zasu Pitts have good parts. The story.is an. interesting one, dealing with modern woman s defiance of the barriers of conyenlion-and th l pfi' tfuotle and New Zealand Publicity film are shown, while in W«*%} of n *° new serial, "Strings of Steel," William Desmond and Eileen Sedgwick an.hurthag to almost certain destruction when the reel ends.
