SYDENHAM FREE KINDERGARTEN. A., meeting of. the Sydenham Free Kindergarten was held in the St'. Saviour's Parish., Hall on Tuesday) when there were present Mrs, T. 'C. Aschjnarji, in the , chair, Mesdam.es Rodda, Peppier, Adkins, Cropp, iind Miss. Lockwood, head teacher of the Kindergarten: also representing the parents, Mesdames Billington, lUtodes, and Harper. Mrs Aschman announced that the main business, of the meetin? was to make • arrangements for celebrating the fifteenth birthday of the school on March 22nd. She and Mrs Peppier promised to furnish a birthday cake lar< o enough for seventy-five children. Miss Lockwood said that as" it was so early in the year with so many new children in the Kindergarten, four new ones having come that day. the programme of action songs and the display of handwork could be of only a simple nature. The roll number, she said, was good, and parents' subscriptions had increased. Mrs Peppier said the subscriptions were of the greatest assistance to the Association, and during the last few years they had fallen off considerably, being last year £l9, as against £33 in former, rears, but though the subscriptions had diminished, somewhat, the interest and personal help had increased in a most encouraging way. : In order to augment the funds it was decided that Mrs Rodda and Mrs Lester would arrange a small cake stall, Mrs Cropp and Miss Peppier sweets, and Mrs Peppier and Mrs Aschman would take a small sewing stall. The "Harvest Festival," a well laden stall of produce, contributed by the _ little ones, is always held in conjunction with the birthday. The parents will provide and serve afternoon tea, for which a small charge will be made to visitors other than the _ mothers of the Kindergarten pupils. Mrs Rodda reported that, after a few weeks of respite, the Building Committee had got into harness again, and had already .conducted two euchre parties for the' benefit, of the Association.
