IN POSSESSION OF OPIUM. (mas Msocwrw* tstymuat.) WANGANUI, February-lei Willie Goe, a Chinese, lor having opium in his possession in a form wiHable for smoking, was fined £3O by the Magistrate, Mr Barton, this morttWhen detectives visited the premises last evening they found women's shoes and clothing, and later arrested Gladys Smith and Lily Ryan on a chargo of having no lawful means of support. Both are young; married women who have been in the habit of coming to Wanganui occasionally and frequenting Chinese premises. Ryan was sentenced to a month's imprison* ment, and Smith, who was more or less under the influence of the other woman, was remanded till Thursday.
