CARRYING ON IN PRISON

(n cams—rasas assocxaro*—corraion.) (austbaua* ajto n.a. casus association) ' NEW YORK,. February 13. At Edgewater, New Jersey, arrangements are being made for the Mayor, Mr Henry Wishel, who was. sentenced to a year's imprisonment in connexion with rum-running, to continue to govern the city from his cell in the Atolantn Penitentiary. A great dear of feeling was stirred when Mr Wishel was found guilty, and a petition, signed by all the city's school children, induced the judge to reduce the sentence from two years to one year. The case, which involved the chief of police, who was also found guilty and sentenced to a similar term, has divided the city into two camps, the women declaring they will petition the Government to unseat <he-Mayor, while the latter*s resignation, it is believed, will not be accepted by the Board of Aldermen.
