At the recent annual outing of the Cliristchurch . legal fraternity a well-known-lawyer did a very unwise thing, one not at all in keeping with the prescience ' which is associated with, his name in matters legal. He foolishly offorcd an Officers'' Mess Turkish cigarette to a fellow-barrister and so quickly did the news fly round.that our friend was in possession of a good thing that he was compelled to give away the whole of his Officers' Mess cigarettes. Not that he minded at all advertising the fame of this prince of Turkish tobaccos,, but .-the unfortunate fact was that he had to make a special trip into town in. order-to secure, a further supply of Officers' Mess.
