THE PRAYER BOOK.

ARCHBISHOP SPEAKS ON REVISION. In the course of his sermon at the Anglican Cathedral last night, his Grace, Archbishop Avcrill, spoke on the proposed revision of the prayer book, saying that the revision, which certain kinds of parties would have for themselves, would ho rejected by God. His Grace prefaced his remarks by speaking on the temptation of people to take the short cut. There were people in the world who thought that the Church was old fashioned and that modern religious thought should be adopted. "The way of God's Church may be thought to be long and tedious, but it is the way of safety," he said. However, the revision of the prayer book, if accepted bv the Government, would also have to be accepted by the Synod.
