Dr. Stanley Foster returned yesterday from Dunedin, where he has been attending the Medical Congress.
Mr G. W. Beaglehole, the new headmaster of the East Ohrbtehureh School, will arrive in Christchnrch on Tnesday and take up his duties immediately. Mr H. W. Lever, retiring inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, and Mr J. T. Grose, his successor, left for the south yesterday. Mr G. M. Cornwall (Portland, Oregon), publisher of "The Timbennan," passed through Ghriatchurch yesterday morning on his way to Dunedin He is touring tho Dominion to investigate its methods of afforestation.
Amongst arrivals at Wellington by tho TJimaToa this week was Mr B. J. Anwyl, general manager in Netc Zealand of Messrs Thomas Cook and Son, who will do tho North Island trip to bo covered by the Franconia's passengers.

A visitor to New Zealand next month will be Brigadier-General W. C. Rudkin, C.M.G., D.8.0.. who will arrivo at Auckland on March 28tli from Vancouver. He served with distinction in the Boer War, and during the European War was twice wounded, and seven rimes mentioned in dispatches. Ho retired from tho army in 1920. General Rudkin, who will be accompanied by his wife, will spend three weeks in New Zealand before proceeding to Australia
The vicar of St. Faith's Church, New Brighton, the Rev. C. W. I. Maclaverty, and Mrs Maclavcrty, who Rave returned from an extended tour of the United Kingdom, were welcomed back by the parishioners on Thursday evening. Canon T. A. Hamilton, who had charge of the parish during tho vicar's absence, was presented with an illuminated address and a Gladstone bag, and Mrs Hamilton was presented with a dainty toilet set as a mark of goodwill from tho parishioners. During the evening opportunity was taken to present Mr G. P. Blackburn, an active worker, who is leaving the parish, with a wallet. '
