Miss Merle Miller's Becital. Miss Merle Miller, who attained such high honours under Mr Roland Foster, of the State Conscrvatorium o( Music, Sydnoy, gave a reritnl in St. Saviour's Schoolroom yesterday. The room was filled to its utmost rapacity, and a largo number of visitors-from Christchurch were present. Mr F. E. Sutton presided, and congratulated Miss Miller on her success. Miss Miller gave excellent interpretations of several songs, and in so doing clearly indicated that she possesses a voico both pleasing and of exceptional range. Sho was equally pleasing in her French and Italian numbers. Her singing was immensely enjoyed by all present, and she had to respond to several encores. During tho afternoon Mrs J. Guthrie played some.'cello selections. Mrs J. Russell acted as accompanist. All three were the recipients of beautiful bouquets.
Jumble Sale. Tin; Salvation Army held a successful jumble silo yesterday. There vera jumble, cake, flower, sweets, and book stalls, which wero all well patronised, the promoters being well satisfied with tho results. Harbour Light Theatre. "Fascinating Youth," featuring the junior stars of 1026, will bo screened at the Harbour Light Theatre to-day* together with a comedy, gazette, and screen snapshots. A special attraction at the evening session will be the appearance of Miss Merlo Miller, mezzo-soprano, prior to her return next week to continue her studies at the Sydney Consorvatorium. The reserve plan is at tho theatre to-day.
