FLOWER SHOW.

GLADIOLI ANI) DAHLIAS. A BRIGHT DISPLAY. Considering the dry season, the show of blooms at tho Canterbury Horticultural Society's Show, which opened at tho Art Gallery yesterday, is remarkably good. Tho show is comprised chiefly of gladioli and dahlias, and outstanding among tho other blooms is an entry of sweet peas from Dunedin and an exhibition of hydrangeas by Mrs K. F. Stead, of Riccarton. Outstanding in tho dahlia section is au exhibition of Mr V. ,1. Lnng, of Papanui. The- entries in the gladiolus section is undoubtedly the best that has appeared in C'hristchurch, and altogether the blooms, which arc well arranged, make a bright display. Tho fruit and vegetable sections are also well contested, and the quality of these speaks well for tho attention given to them. Many were the admirers of the blooms who visited the Art Gallery yesterday, and the show will be continued to-day. The judges iu the various sections were: Pot plants and cut ftowcrs, Messrs W. J. Hutnm and W. C. G. Beumelherg: decorative, Mr F. Jones; fruit and vegetables, Mr 'lt. J. Christiansen. The judging, which was concluded yesterday, resulted as follows: FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.
