N.Z. COUNCIL MEETING. A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association took placo last night. Present: Messrs W. E. D. Bishop (president), F. 0. Dunn (South Canterbury), J. Jackson (Hawke's Bay), A. L. Wilkinson (Taranakl), A. It. Jacobson (Manawatu), C. Bryant (Wanganui), It. B. Wheeley (Ashburton), A. Mao Donald (Westland), P. D. Coulter (Canterbury), and B. O'Neill (Wellington). Speaking on the Auckland swimming championships which took place recently, the president said that the meeting had been Tery. well conducted, and the results had proved very satisfactory. He would like particularly to apeak on tho running of the Annette Kellcrntan Cup; boats' had not been provided for all competitors, and several of the swimmers had to start without them. It should be emphasised that boats must be provided. The absence of them was dangerous. He moved that the Auckland Centra be congratulated on' the manner in which it had conducted tho • championships. The supporters of the SomerSeld Amateur Swimming Club and the residents of Spreydon are assured of a most entertaining time at the Somerfleld school baths to-morrow afternoon, when the Somcrfield Club is holding its annual gala. The' principal attraction at the gala will be the Bryce Cup competition. This is an annual inter-club flying squadron race for teams of fire swimmers from any club, nnd is usually productive of many thrills for the spectators. This year, with the keen rivalry between East Christchurch and United Clubs, It is expected that the race wilt be very close, and experienced officials estimate that there should not lie rooro than a second or two between the team? at the Bnish.
