He will j also inspct the new bridge built by tho Public Works Department over the Inangahiifv river. r . ,a ! ,raan . District Railways Trailic Manager, was a through passenger to Hoktika by to-day's express. Mr Chapman, will visit Ross before returning to Greymoutli to-morrow. He will later proceed *o Reefton nnd Westport. He is accompnnied bv Mrs Chapmnu. Mr C. Rennell arrived from Wellington this evening in connexion v/ith tho ercctio:'. of the proposed works at Grcvmonth for tho British Imperial Oil Company, Ltd. He was accompanied bv Mrs Rennell. Mr J. McNair, District Rallwny Engineer, arrived from Wellington this evening via Reefton. Miss A. B. Nosworthy arrived from Christchurch this afternoon on n visit to Mr and Mrs T. E. Coates, Alexander street. Among tho inward passengers by to-day's express were Miss A. Doogan, Messrs G. Hodgson, R. Bisley, and I 1 J Kent. The death occurred to-day at the Westland Hospital of Mr William Campbell, an old resident of tho North Westland district, at tho ago of ninety years. Messrs W. Larcombo and L. Jackson left to-day on a holiday trip to Auckland and Itotorua. Constables J. A. Paddy and J. Greenlees, who were recently married, wero met last evening by the members of tho Groymouth PoJico Station staff and presented with a dinner set and a silver tea-sorvico respectively. Both presentations were made by SeniorSergeant P. J. McCarthy. Mrs A. Low, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs A. McKay, High street, left this morning for Auckland. The Hon. Mr Michel, M.L.C. (Hokitikft) left to-day for Wellington. Mrs E. Hnnham (Dunedin) is the guest of Mrs W. R. J. Smythe, High street. Mr F. J. Marshall left to-day for Wanganui. Among tho inward passengers bv yesterday's express were Mr and Mrs C. Rennell, Messrs G. Hodgson, R. Bisley, tind F. J. Kent. Hot Weather. The Weather has been unusually warm during the last week, and during last evening tho atmosphere was cooled by a few light showers which fell at intervals for about an hour, when the weather again cleared. This morning broke with a clear sky, and tho weather was intensely hot throughout the day. Burf bathing continues to bo the most popular pastime, and tho majority of tho townspeople aro spending their leisure hours on the beaches.
