Without- a doubt ono of the epics of tho screen, "The Volga Boatman" ifi showing al tin Grand Theatre this week. In this feature the tragic resignation and utter hopelessness of Russinn peasant lifo iB thrown 'nto vivid iflicf and the eild«l Uvea of tho aristocracy contrast etrongly with the cxis-tcaco ot the down-trodden serf. Tho happy medium was unknown under the Tzarlist regime, bo the producer with a touch of genius, tinged stark tragedy with n touch of relieving humour.
