MOTORIST FACES SERIOUS CHARGE.
(PRIJS 48SOCI*nO« TELCOBAIt.) PALMERSTON N., February 9. In the Supreme Court the trial is proceeding of John Drummond, a retired ironmonger, of Dannevirke, on a charge of allegedly negligent driving of a motor-car on November 13th last on the "Woodville-Pahiatua road near Woodville, thereby causing the death of George Vinton. While driving a party of bowlers to Pahiarua, accused's car struck Vinton, who was walking on the road in the same direction. Vinton died on the following morning from the injuries he received. . Addressing the jury, the Crown Prosecutor Paid the accused apparently did not see the boy until within fifteen or twenty feet of him. Then he swerved his car. to the left, but too late, the car striking Vinton with the right wheel or the right mudguard.
