AUSTRALASIAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS.

[THE PEESB Special Service] DUNEDIN, February 8. A meeting of tho founders of the College of Surgeons of Australasia was held in tho Medical School. Tho actions taken to form the College by various meetings of delegates of surgeons in Australia and Ne.v Zealand, and tho Provisional Executive Committee which they appointed, were confirmed, with a few minor amendments, and the College is now constituted. The president, who will also for a time act n.s director-general, is Sir George Syme. The vice-prosidents are Kir Alexnnder MncCormick and Dr. L. E. Harnett, the hon. secretary and treasurer Dr. A. L. Kenny, and »he other members of the Council are Drs. Gordon Crnic. H. B. Dcvine. H. S. Newland, W. N. Robertson, Hamilton, Russell, R. Worrell, and Professor Sondes.

In addition to the original 40 founders, a largo number of foundation fellows have been elected senior surgeons, whose skill and reputation are beyond question. Future candidates for election will require to be nominated by their fellows and to furnish inform; *<n as to their attainments and references as to character. These rpplications will be considered by the Credentials Committee in the Dominion, and in such State of the Commonwealth in which the applicant practises, consisting of senior surgeons, who will make full enquiries and report to the Council, which will finally decide as to the candidate'a fitness.
